Helping the Veteran’s Administration Improve Healthcare
As someone who has worked with many Philly startups, I, Harry Hayman, am particularly proud of the work that I am currently doing with WorkMerk. You may remember that we were working on an app to help restaurants improve health standards. This project is still in the works, but right now, I am excited to talk about another idea that the WorkMerk team has in the works.
One thing we found our teammates had in common was that a lot of us are military veterans. One of the guys I am working with actually served in the Army for nearly 30 years! While I myself never served, it had crossed my mind plenty of times, and I see it as an honorable thing to do and a great way to do some good in the country and the world.
With the military experience being a common thread, we had decided that we wanted to do something to help veterans, and that came in the form of applying the solutions that we found through VirusSafe Pro, to help improve the quality of healthcare for veterans. We are currently working on pilots with local veterans administrations — including consulting from Dr. David Shulkin — to see how we can use our technology to better administer healthcare in hospitals and emergency rooms.
Our ultimate goal is to address long-term healthcare for veterans. Right now, veterans don’t get the proper quality of healthcare that they deserve, and we have seen the adverse effects of this. With the amount of schooling that healthcare workers have to go through before they are able to get into practice, it’s possible that once it comes time to operate, not every procedure will be perfect. That’s why our program will offer the information for those providing healthcare to our veterans; so that nobody who has served our country has to come back and receive inefficient healthcare.
We believe that this new app is going to be a game-changer for the healthcare industry, especially when it comes to veterans administrations and their healthcare. But of course, this project is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what I have in store.
